Signal
Before proceeding any further with troubleshooting, always reboot your computer and power-cycle your EVDO router. Doing so can solve many common problems, often unexpectedly. After powering off your EVDO router, you should also remove and then reconnect the Aircard to ensure that it is securely connected.
Check light status: For your connection to work, your EVDO router needs to connect to a local cell phone tower via a wireless signal. It does this through an Aircard which is inserted into the back or side of your router. The light on this card will be off while the router is booting and should come on and flash occasionally while it is searching for a signal. Once a signal is acquired, this light will flash green slowly and consistently whenever data is passing, and will turn solid green when it is idle. The Aircard should connect within 4 minutes of turning on the EVDO router.
If the light on your Aircard is still red, off, or otherwise not behaving normally, you may not be receiving a signal from the cell tower. Please refer to section 4 for instructions on logging into your router and checking signal.
Equipment position: If you are not getting a signal, or you are getting a weak signal, you should start by attaching the booster antenna that was included with your equipment to the side of your Aircard. The cable attaching your antenna to your card should be stretched out and not coiled, as coiling the cable may adversely affect your signal.
Move your router/antenna: Moving your router or booster antenna to a different location can often result in a stronger signal. The best way to approach this is usually to check coverage maps and move the equipment near a window on the side of the building with the best coverage. You can check coverage maps at http://coverage.sprintpcs.com. If you have followed all the above instructions and still are not getting a good signal, please…
